antonique smith is playing faith evans. i think she looks like her. maybe not like her twin, but antonique is REALLY talented. she's a great actress and singer, and i'm really excited to see her in the movie :)
what's good yo...i like most of the cast except the guy playin TUPAC...i think u guys coulda done better...but i guess it's who u know...he really doesn't look it and based on his filmography i know he can't play it...tupac is a great character role...u guys should go through the pics that were emailed and delivered and hold some more auditions...SERIOUSLY...
Obviously you don't know what your talking about. Anthony Mackie played Tupace in a broadway play and trust, he looked just like Pac. Plus dude can flow (check 8 Mile - he was Poppa Doc - I mean Clarence from Cranbrook).
Naturi Naughton, formerly the lead singer of the group 3LW, is playing Li'l Kim. At first, I wasn't too sure about it, seeing how I don't recall seeing her in anything else. But Girl ... She RIPPED IT! I watched as she shot her scenes where she's performing "Get Money". And it was as if I were watching Li'l Kim all over again. She knocked it out the ballpark. She nailed it. I was both Proud & Impressed.
The Cast is doing really well. I can't wait to see the finished product.
I was On Set with you all on both April 24th & 25th and I gotta say the experience was Overwhelming. I could feel the Love, Energy, Passion, and Unity as I watched y'all work hard to bring this project into fruition. I was there from 9:30am till 10:45pm. And might I add, on both days I was kicked off set, I didn't leave voluntarily. (SIDEBAR: I DIDN'T CAUSE A DISTURBANCE, THEY WERE JUST SHUTTING EVERYTHING DOWN!) I just wanted to stay until the bitter end.
Being On Set was emotional for me because it reminded me of the glory days of HipHop. As we shot the concert scenes my mind went back to when I used to see Big get it in Live on Stage. It was nothing for me to catch a show featuring Big & Junior Mafia. Or, catching Faith Evans at the Apollo Theatre. Total and 112 would be doing their thing too, and the whole BadBoy Squadron would be there holding court; preparing the way for Mase, The Lox, & Black Rob. All those memories flooded my head as I watched Gravy shoot those scenes. We went back in time and rediscovered memories that had been buried a long time ago. Memories- to be quite honest with you- that I didn't want to remember. Bittersweet so to speak. Because in my opinion, to remember the way things were is to recognize how they presently aren't. Rap Music is NOT what it used to be because it has separated itself from HipHop. And it seems to me that Big's death was the precursor to that. Big's death signaled the beginning of the end. So, as I still continue to mourn him, I also mourn the separation of Rap & HipHop as well.
Didn't mean to go off on a depressing tangent, but a Sista feels how she feels. And I hope that by doing this movie, it'll help us recapture what was once important. The love & passion of making good music. And maybe, just maybe we'll be able to pass it on to our younger Brethren & Sistren. Because honestly, they haven't got a clue.
