Is this Reality?

The music stops and all are calm. An abrupt stop if you will. All that can be heard is the air conditioner.
“We see different time periods through dreams, inclinations, television screens or pictures”, He said to himself.
All should live like they are in a dream and fantasize like they were in two dreams. The body should go where the mind tells it, no matter where or how it tells it to. Imagine yourself someplace, perhaps it could be de javou but its not. Do without thinking and let your self live and allow your world to be shaped by circumstances.
The person who thought the beginning phrase, “We see different time periods through dreams, inclinations, television screens or pictures”, exonerated the very notion of living life. Although most would say this could be a play on words in a comical sense, this story is meant for the literal meaning of his exoneration of living life in the normal persons sense of “Life”.

He stands outside of the theater building handing out fliers with pictures of sunsets and cows grazing in the distance. People walk past in annoyance, and some in intrigue. Some take the fliers and some don’t. These fliers contain not only pictures of pure freedom and lust for the open sea, road, air, etc, but of a product simply to market.
Quincy Sheldon has one thing on his mind, but it’s quite amusing to see a bohemian in a business manner wanting to sell a product for money. He is nothing but a real life info-infomercial.
Quincy stands 5 feet 6 inches with scraggly hair, un kept appearance and very gaunt to boot. Being a sales man might be a hard job after all for this man. The product he is selling however remains a mystery. Could it work? Is it simply another scam being played out day in and day out on the streets? The fliers are barely visible and need to come closer to the salesman for verification on the nature of the fliers
“How is it that you are going to stand here and try and sell this product of yours and keep a straight face?” , asks one of the men who takes the flayer out of pure curiosity.
Quincy just gives a small closed mouth smile and nods his head in belittlement towards the man. The man just walks off shaking his head and thinking to himself of how weird and unknowing the salesman is of his own product.
The flayer has more than just pictures, the writing reads: “For the best life you will ever live only $29.99”.
“I’ll take one”, quizzically and with a shy demeanor, a woman says.
The woman takes the flayer from Quincy curiously but somewhat hesitant. The woman shows characteristics of a beautiful young woman, couldn’t be no more than twenty four. Coal Black hair cut short she’s a pint sized runway look-alike. She wants nothing more than to be happy. We can tell this by her eyes and the way she carries herself. Perhaps there’s something lurking in her past that makes her want this better life. She is more than willing to pay the $29.99.
“Do you take cash”?
“The only thing I’ll take sweetheart”, says Quincy, with an intimidated voice. He looks her up and down. Interested in her?

We don’t know or is he simply seeing if she’s the right candidate. But than again there is no right or wrong answer however, we can only assume the primary question being answered. Her life as she knows it is about to change, and to think, for only thirty dollars cash!
With the Pamphlet comes a phone number to call. She calls it and immediately an operator comes on the line and takes her location of where she purchased the flier. After that said, the beautiful young women, Madison, is taken into a world only few would know. At this point she has entered a culture shock of sorts. A world of no lines to walk on or rules to cross over.
Madison is greeted by a man with Long hair, about five feet 8 or 9 and very thin with a shaved face and long P coat with a t shirt under it. He also is wearing black boots with no socks.
“I would like to welcome you to the world of dreams and fantasies”.
“Okay I guess”, Madison says in outward awkwardness.
At this point we can see that the character Madison is introduced to is a very weird or different person from you and I and perhaps has been outside of society for a while now. Madison is not used to this sort of thing... she hasn't seen many people that look like this.

Five Years Earlier.

“Honey come on your going to be late for school”!
“Okay dad shut the fuck up”!
“Is that anyway to talk to your father Madison”?
From Madison's point of view and her opinion we can see that she lead a very normal middle class, nothing out of the ordinary life. She did things normal teens would do.

After Madison took the pill of “The Best Life you will ever live”, she sees a different light.

Present

The man, scary looking in physical form happily, gives her a pill. He tells her to take it and have no regrets. She does so and if I may say so... never does regret it. The man who gives her the pill is a man that looks as if he stepped out of a Volkswagen Van in the 1960's. The present time now is the 2000's and its a bit odd to see such a person still inhabiting this earth. He talks with a Western American accent and wears tight black jeans with a shirt that is baggy and seems to belong in a thrift shop to never be purchased by a single soul outside of the alternative crowds. Her world as it has been said previously is about to change for the better. Or so it seems. ( never believe anything even if it is in writing).

As soon as she takes the pill she is taken in a dream like world through tunnels and spirals of psychedelic heavens and hells. It would seem to the reader (you) that this is simply a vision of someone on drugs and nothing besides, however its more than that, more of a cognitive oasis of happiness. She is taken into a valley from the air and floats down into a beautiful green colored forest with a waterfall slowly dripping water and birds are seen lethargically hovering above. She walks hesitantly under the waterfall and as soon as she comes to, she notices a small cloud of smoke.
“Hello? , Who's there?” She is reluctant to go any further, wanting to step back.
“Hello to you as well my sweet darling”, answers a mysterious voice. The voice that is coming from the smoke is a very soft, and fragile one indeed.
“You've arrived and welcome”. The voice, let me reiterate is very fragile and it is from non other than Nathaniel Hawthorne. Being very reluctant to engage in conversation with this man, she gives in from pure curiosity. Nathaniel has pure blond hair, almost white to be perfectly honest. His hair is curly and he isn't quite as gaunt as the other characters that have been emerged into this new world of hers.
“I want to enter the world of dreams and flaccid obligations, that is to say of course I would like to enter the world of a non existent, irksome paradise!!!” Nathaniel clearly is somewhat of a patriarch of this new land and someone perhaps to leach on to for assistance or for support.
“Excuse me?”, very shyly announces Madison.
The voice coming from under the waterfall is clearly visible through vibrations of the shear wantonness of freedom and it is almost as if you do not have to see this character but only from voice alone do you put an image in your mind as to what he looks like. As soon as he speaks he dapperly appears from outside the rocks, under the waterfall. He carries a top hat but refuses to wear it, only hold it as if it was an extension of his very hands. He begins to speak to Madison about love, life , liberty and the Pursuit of happiness, and how she hasn't made a mistake by taking the pill of these pursuits.
“What were you in for?”, asks Nathaniel.
Nathaniel asks this question in a tone that would suggest that Madison was in jail.
“What do you mean”, answers back Madison.
“You heard me my sweet child”. He asks in a way that he feels she should know the answer and clearly know what and where he is coming from. Madison explains to Nathaniel that she has no idea what he is talking about and that she has never been to jail. When she explains this to him he laughs and explains to her that he's not talking about jail he is talking about Life.
“What were you in for, honey is not to be taken in the purpose of the fact that you were in the Prison or jail or incarceration of what is known on your side of things. On the side of your life as you knew it, as it was and what wasn't known because what is in between and unknown is a door, I am simply speaking of the fact of Life.... Life and Life.
Your life in the past is the prison I am speaking of, I am asking you what were you in jail (or for what were you incarcerated in Life for)?
“You have got to be kidding me! How in the fuck would I know why or what I was brought into this world for?? you are a fucking idiot and judging by what your smoking I would say your pretty fucked up and need to lay off of the... whatever your smoking”.

“Its not like that sweetheart, I am simply asking you a question as to What Were You In For”? There is a way to find out why you were placed on this earth you know”.
Nathaniel tries to explain what he is trying to say and wants Madison to believe that there is a method to his madness. He gives insight on where to find this key to the door of truth on why “We” are here and how it is a prison and how we are in this prison for some reason or the other. People aren't put into prison for no reason unless falsely accused or being at the wrong place at the wrong time. This is precisely what Madison needs to figure out.
The scene of Madison's journey seems as if she was journeying through a kaleidoscope of amusement parks and meeting many different characters along the way. Does she regret buying this product from the street vendor? This question can only be answered as we go along further in the story.
The conversation is in its finishing moments and Nathaniel tells her to board the nearest subway at 18th street just a block away and take it to the Foundry stop. Madison politely tells him to take care and nice to meet him and is on her way. She gets on the platform to discover this isn't your average everyday subway platform. She sees mystical creatures, somewhat floating in artistic freedom. There is music in the back round of un worldly sounds. Just then she is greeted by a beautiful woman dressed in the most beautiful outfit that deep down in Madison's unconscience mind, she wants to be. She is the most confident woman and very elaborate in her personality that diminishes the very meaning of normalcy.
“So what were you in for”? Asks the woman.
This is a repetitive question in the story that seems comical or puzzling to most. Madison again is taken back and seems slightly resentful because Nathaniel asked her the same thing. She responds with the same response to Nathaniel's question. The woman is nameless and will remain nameless because she is a mystical creature in Madison's sub conscience. She rides the train with Madison to her stop at Foundry. It is fitting to say that this story has been more of a patriarchal theme, and needs a matriarchal figure. The nameless figure fits the bill perfectly and reasonably.
Madison is quickly becoming weary of this world and needs a place to stay. It seems she has been meeting new people and learning new concepts but with no time to sleep. She asks the nameless figure of her own desires about places to stay. The woman tells her to check into the “Cathedral Inn and Calderon” the place is located right off the “Long esland” stop. Madison then says her goodbyes and transfers to the Long esland stop off the subway system.
The Long Esland stop was slightly reminiscent of her past. There were people with strollers, people with out dated, out of style clothing, and ideas. Basically it seemed to have big back yards with white picket fences and yet narrow minds. At this stop Madison befriends nobody because nobody is willing to put the effort in to talking to her like the previous stops or areas she ventured into. She makes her way to the Cathedral Inn and Calderon, the hotel she came to stay at. She checked in and went to sleep as soon as she could. She would need this sleep for the next day.

Madison awakes to the sound of clanging and loud noises of a construction crew. The first thing on her mind is coffee. She rolls out of bed and glances down at the floor. Next to the door by the crack sits an envelope. It reads:
“Dear Madison,
I have to show you something. By the time your done reading this letter you will
know what I mean.”
A knock on the door makes her look through the peep hole. There stands the woman from earlier.
“Hello, I thought you would be needing this.”
She hands Madison a cup of coffee and tells her to hurry up she has to show her something. They both leave the hotel and head off to the nearest subway platform. They ride the train for about ten minutes and arrive at their destination.
They both walk up the long steep stairs to the outside and shield their eyes from the blinding sunlight. As soon as they get to the top a beautiful world is in view. Grass, birds, a small waterfall in back. This area is clearly the closest to heaven one could get. People are sitting, dancing, and just plain and simply being. Some are even naked... almost a scene one would see in the 1960's.
“Welcome sweetheart.”, Nathaniel says.
“Your here too? I haven't seen you in sometime”, Madison answers.
This world by far Madison is pleased to be in and wants to know where she is.

Previously in the story, in the introduction, there was a man speaking, and the man was sitting in a chair half dozing off to sleep and half awake....

The man awakes fully now and looks puzzled.
“Madison?”, “Madison!!”
The man appears to be and is clearly Madison's father. After half dozing off to sleep, the news had been on and by his own decision of not wanting to believe the tragic news, he tries to shut it off.

News broadcast:
“And a Tragic car crash leaves a young lady dead today.”

We are taken now back to the beautiful land where Madison's spirit is.
“Dad?” Madison responds back.
Madison and the other woman now walk the open area and the woman tells her she needs to talk to her about life.
“I have to tell you something. You see Madison what we see and don't see are all in the mind. You see this squirrel? This creature is different to you in only one way. And that is its brain. You see honey, you can think about past and present and you can also imagine places that aren't there or places that you are but you aren't. You understand?”
“Um I guess?”
“Let me explain it so you can understand. Is this place real? It is to you because you want it to be. And past memories of places like this have made it look like this now. Your past experience may have been in a park that looks like this and your brain is charging this to you. Let me be more clear Madison, your not really here.”
“yeah okay whatever you say”.
Just as she is finished with the sentence a woman appears from the other side of the tree.
“Madison she's right, welcome honey. I haven't seen you in some time.”
“Mom?”

“I have clearly allowed this world to be shaped by circumstances, I wish I could have stopped both their deaths”.
The man then leaves the house and heads for the theater building. He is greeted by non other than Quincy Sheldon.

FIN

great story but, FSL is dead. didnt i tell you

glad you decided to get an account and post that but, this site sorta blows at the moment so good luck on gettin a response by anyone other than me.

velvetj shut up

this velvetj guy is full of shit.... yeas this site gets a little slow but, its active... VelvetJ get a life or a plan of some sort. loser. your fucking loser and your stories suck. fucker

Back to your story.....

great alice in wonder land parallel... sorta reminds me of this short film i watched called the lifebox. In an existential prospective the story revolves around a black and white perspective of someones afterlife. You reference some social taboos and underground topics of paranormal.. Greatflip on the ending. I'd like to see a meeting between Madison and Quincy. Maybe in a dream. As far as FSL is concerned i still got faith in it but, you might get more motivation posting this on other screen writing websites like scriptologist.
