Young At Heart Kazoo Band
While some senior adults have decided to age in a rocking chair…our seniors decided to make music! Our seniors formed their own kazoo band over 5 years ago, “The Hampton Young At Heart Kazoo Band." Our band members’ ages range from 75 to 99 years young. They enjoy performing and contributing back to their community and city. Last year, the Band debuted their first CD recording. Our Kazoo Band has performed for over 12,000 youngsters and those who are “young at heart” all over the Houston area.
We are pleased to announce that our Hampton Young At Heart Kazoo Band will perform before the screening of the movie, YOUNG@HEART, here in Houston on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Edwards MarqE 23 Theatre.

I serve as the Life Enrichment Coordinator for our community. I am blessed to go to work everyday and be inspired by these seniors. Their daily acts of courage in the face of the difficulties of strokes, Parkinson’s, macular degeneration, crippling arthritis, memory loss, deaths of spouses, etc. make them everyday heroes! We may have canes, walkers and wheelchairs…aches and pains…but you’ll feel inspired when you hear us play. These seniors believe that growing old doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun!
With the movie, YOUNG@HEART, we look forward to celebrating with the entire world what it means to be young at heart!

I see announcements for this movie all over the place and I've watched the group's videos on YouTube. I think they are fantastic. It's great that there are groups like this in the Houston area too. Best of luck to the Kazoo Band; they are an inspirational group of seniors who have the ability to remind us all that you may age in years but you don't have to age in spirit.

When I get a little older I may move to Houston because the kazoo is the only instrument I can play and I've always wanted to be in a band.
