My Profile

I'm a student studying film production at San Jose State University. I'm scared to death about my career. All i know is that i'm happiest when i'm making a film. Thank you for looking at my page! Also, hot tea doesn't really have a flavor to me. It's just water i have to sip.

Miles From Home, a band from Seattle, WA, proved their name to be true and traveled all the way to do San Diego and shot this music video with us!

I'm back!

Aug 1, 2008

Well, its been quite a busy summer for me!
So far, we've driven across the country while filming an experimental film which we will not finish for a while.
We finished TWO music videos, one with Miles From Home for "Here's Lookin at You Kid", and another Radio Racer video for "Perfection" which was the featured video of the month on purevolume.com!!!
We just finished a short film thats very silly called "Flushed" and next week we will start shooting our film that we have been writing for 6 months!
It's been a very exciting/busy time for us and be sure to check out this channel often as all of it will be upoloaded shortly!

The music video we made for A Shattered Hope's, "Scary Bad Skinny"

Well, “Where do we go from here?”
When the plans were made for this video, we knew that it would be our most challenging yet, but we never could have predicted just how much this would require on our part.
The idea for it came about as a kind of joke. We had been talking to A Shattered Hope for a while about doing a music video, but it never amounted to more than just talk because we couldn’t come up with an idea that both of us liked enough. Because of the nature of the song, it was difficult to find an idea that would be original enough for our tastes but yet flattering for the band. It was this thinking that led us to a video that in no way reflected the type of music the video dealt with.
We had the idea for an elaborate cardboard set, with a surreal, child-like quality. The idea was to appear simple minded and light-hearted yet incredibly detailed and complex.
Since we had never dealt with set construction of this magnitude before, we knew it would be a challenge. What we didn’t count on was the difficult in the details. Apparently, making a 20-foot long boat made of cardboard is difficult to make stand up right.
After three 15-hour-days of constructing sets and props -and only one day behind schedule- we were finally able to start shooting band shots for, "SCARY, BAD, SKINNY". Filming started Saturday morning at 10 am, and we didn't get our last shot until 4 am the next day!
Editing went much the same… very tedious and meticulous cuts, all done by Frank Lucatuorto with me, Myles, by his side. And again, much of it was edited pants-less.
It was probably the most draining weekend (and weeks prior) of our lives and it COULD NOT have been accomplished without all the help that came from our closest friends.

The most Legit thing ever

Feb 5, 2008

So this weekend the coolest thing ever took place.
A friend of mine (Frank, black and white stripped jacket) have been making all sorts of films ever since our sophomore year in High School. While we both have gone onto different film schools in college, we still consider each other to be film partners.
A local band in San Diego named Radio Racer had talked to us about shooting a music video. They heard about Frank and I through a friend of a friend kinda deal. One thing led to another and a few weeks after our first meeting with the band, I was on a plane headed to San Diego to shoot a semi-professional music video for a popular band.
Frank and I had assembled a totally kick-ass crew of 10 or so digital media students in Poway who were eager to work with us on this shoot. Everyone did an amazing job crewing the video, and everyone gave their entire effort to make the final product what it is. We shot in three different primary locations, and our production schedule was very tight. We had only one day to shoot the entire video.
So @ 10 am, the main actor (who is also the singer) and actress arrived as well as the crew, and i began passing out papers for the production schedule and what not. I introduced myself as "the director" and it was probably the 2nd best feeling of my entire life.
Some pics from the set:

We shot straight until 10 pm, and which point i had the 1st best feeling of my life, when i got to shout, "thats a wrap!"
That night frank and I pulled an all nighter editing and came up with our final product @ 8 am the next morning. Or i should say Frank edited, and i pulled the all nighter by his side. He is a genius when it comes to editing with precision and speed.
AND we edited pants-less. Yes, with no pants. After a long day of running around shooting a video, you just want to unwind in post, take off those uncomfy jeans, wrap up in a blanket, slurp on energy drinks, and edit a video you just shot hours ago with a best friend, in your boxers.
So all-in-all the entire video was completed in 22 hours.
The video is up on this page, check it out!
I had a really good time writing this blog, and if anyone reads this, and likes it, please let me know, i would be happy to make this a regular thing, i just want to know at least someone is reading it.
ps~ the video was shot in HD and looks AMAZING, but for the life of me, i cannot compress a video to look good on youtube, if anyone can help me, i would consider you to be the coolest person alive.
