My Profile

Since his earliest adventures with a clunky three-piece VHS camera, Doug Conant has been passionate about filmmaking. Recently, he was at Warner Bros. Television where he was involved in the production of the series “Men in Trees," “One Tree Hill,” "Supernatural," and “Big Shots.” He has since moved on to focus entirely on directing and writing. Currently, Doug is working on a feature entitled The Center of the Sun, which follows the unique journeys of multiple sexual assault victims and advocates. Diversity, originality, and emotional & visual strength seem to be his guiding principles. www.group-six.com

Based on the short story by acclaimed author Katharine Weber, Sleeping is a coming-of-age tale about a young girl (Tory Freeth) who accepts a babysitting job, where the parents (Brahman Salem and JERICHO's April Parker-Jones) instruct her not to check on the baby. As the night unfolds, and the girl fights her growing temptation to look in on the baby, she is brought to a cathartic moment of self-discovery.

Samantha (Maggie Rose Fleck) is an unassuming young woman, a volunteer counselor for victims of rape and sexual assault. Now, faced with one of her first clients (Suzanne Tsai), she finds herself tormented by the memory and effects of her own horrific experience. She struggles under the watchful eye of a callous nurse (Casey Kramer) who perceives Samantha’s weakness and has little faith in her abilities. As the situation becomes personal for Samantha, her spirit is tested and the line between client and counselor is blurred.
