My Poppa
This is a short story of the strongest most dear man in this world that is so loved by all his children. On June 6th,1932 Coon & Lucille Smith gave birth to my Poppa ,David Edwin.the first of 5 children wayne, charlotte, francis, jessie mae, little did they know what a man they had giving birth to.trying to describe my poppa is very hard.it isnt easy trying to put into words how much his children loves him and how proud we have been to have him as our poppa.Poppa married Erlene and born 2 sons Ronnie and Larry.we lost Ronnie in 1995 to a horrible car wreck which still to this day devastates our family and more to poppa .we miss him so much and we see him in his childrens eyes and actions everyday.may you rest in peace my brother we love you.Poppa has the strongest hands of any man ive ever known poppa has built houses all his life ,i remember Poppa telling me he built his first house which is a 4 room small house which is still standing to this day! at the age of 13 .he has traveled far and wide until back in the early 80's he returned back to Georgia and was divorced and married my Momma ,Mary Ruth. and the family grew bigger for the both of them.we gained 2 brothers and they gained 9 more siblings!wow! to this day my Poppa gets up at 6 am and puts the coffee on and starts his day with making my Momma breakfast (she is so spoiled)haha he says he has loved my momma since he was 18 ,way back when.he worked everyday he owns a sawmill and has ran it since the 90's ,he has cut so much wood for houses, porches, decks, etc. (mine is 1 of them)he says he will only be still and not work when his time is over on this earth.and we truely believe it .Mommas children havent always been close to our biological father but when Poppa came into our lives we needed them never again.he has been there thru birth, deaths, marriages, good times, hard times, everyday times.anytime any of us ever needed anything he is only a phone call away.i know us girls love having our poppa with us but my brothers have always found comfort in knowing that they have a father to be there for them everyday.he doesnt ever ask any one for anything.at 75 he still works and as he says brings home the bacon,i love seeing him come dancing thru the house or outside singing one of his made up songs while he is working outside.my Momma began a new life when she married you poppa ,and you brought life back into all of us.we know we are not blood children like Larry and Ronnie is but we couldnt love you no more if you was .we wanted to say how much we love you and thank you for loving, caring, and spoiling us and our Momma. We thank God for you each and everyday.I love you Poppa,ur baby girl ,Mary Opal
My Momma
i am trying to put into words how much this person means to me,which is very hard to explain but im trying anyways.ok ,lets see,on July 23,1932 Columbus & Hettie Mae Bing gave birth to the first of 5 children ,in which it was my Momma,Mary Ruth.little did they know what a powerful person they had created with the grace of Gods' love.Mary Ruth went on to help care for her younger siblings,James,Tommy,Evelyn,Frank and loves them so much til this day.and she married a man by the name of Billy Ray and born 6 children,Becky,Danny ,Denise,Dale,Tina,Michael, divorced ,remarried to Kenneth Edward and born 3 girls,Kay,Joan, and my self Mary Opal.divorced and married a man with 2 sons of his own his name is David Edwin and sons are Ronnie, and Larry.but before she married my poppa(david)she raised her children with the utmost respect and always said to get respect you have to give respect in which she has always done.momma never was one to tell us we couldnt ever become what we wanted to become.she believed in anything we tried to do and we always knew we had her support which made us want to become what we are today more than ever.she is the strongest person i have ever got the chance to meet or know in my life.she is so loved by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.and about to have great great grandchildren.wow how wonderful her life is .all my life she worked at a denim mill and retired to relax and enjoy her family like never before, she is 75 now and still works in her yard ,her house, works with my poppa at his sawmill (im doing his story next).never ever can i remember a time where ive needed my momma and her not be there.she is a gift to us from God.we never had to worry about our momma being a drug user ,drinker, partier,or absent.she has been there always!how lucky are we?id say we are so very loved and lucky and im so thankful for her ,the last time i was at mommas house we was listening to KT Oslen and she came dancing thru the kitchen and was dancing toward my poppa in the living room .and they both stood there just actin like they was 16 again dancing ,kissing and acting silly like she always has been.when i seen this young at heart i had to make a blog of my parents.id love to have something special to give them ,just some kind of public thank you,and what better way is than this.our momma never had to worry about any of her children disrespecting her.never have i ever seen or heard of either one of us cursing,or disrespecting her.oh boy we would get it big time ,haha,if we ever did.i wished some of theses people you see on tv could have had a momma as wonderful as we all have.she gives and gives so much love and time to all of us ,she would take care of children that wasn't even hers.our friends would come stay with us and never want to leave.when they needed some normalcy in their lives they could always talk to my momma (momma ruth) and would get the best advice possible still to this day.her hobbies is her flowers.she has some of the most beautiful roses, tulips, lilys, glads.she could make artificial flowers grow!we always have had a bounty of fresh veggies and fruits, from apple&pears to tommy toe tomatoes and green onions.she loves playing computer games and getting emails from her family of pictures and ecards.or simply just riding out in the country with poppa and stopping for a day to go fishing or to jump in the RV and travel down to see family and go camping .she is so proud of us all even us that has messed up a few times in our lives ,we know she still loves us so much.our little community we live in is the best place in the world i believe ,ive lived on the same street all my life and have raised my children up on Clyde/James St.i wouldnt have it any other way.when i hear the song wind beneith my wings i always think of my momma.we can soar high ,she is there ,when we land ,she is there to give us the wind to get back up into the air .i love you Momma,i want to thank you as do everyone of us.words can never express how we truely feel but i hope you get a idea of how much you mean to us all We all Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.love your baby girl ,Mary Opal
